Farmers Battle Record Floods and Drought -- On The Same Farm - FoxBusiness.com: "Deadly tornadoes, record flooding, and one of the worst droughts in recent history are making this year an especially challenging one for crop growers. In Mississippi, some farmers are facing flooded fields side-by-side with fields that haven’t seen significant rain in months."

Drovers CattleNetwork - Effects of the drought outlined by Doane economists : "Although we don’t know for sure how large the impact will be on other crops, it looks like cotton production will be seriously reduced and smaller crops of corn, soybeans, peanuts and other crops are also likely.  In addition, the drought is affecting livestock weight gains, death losses and livestock inventories. Even if the drought ends soon, the effects on agriculture in the area will be huge."
